Black bean chocolate cake

 The black turtle bean is a small, shiny variety of common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), especially popular in Latin American cuisine.

 It isn’t common in our cuisine, that cakes are made from beans, but this one particularly caught my eye. We are used to stuff that are safe to make, at least I am. My grandmother makes the same cake, for as long as I can remember, biscuit with cherries, and my family and I eat it every time with same pleasure, but my point is, why shouldn’t we experiment a little..

 /Čokoladni kolač od crnog pasulja/

 Zrno crnog pasulja je malo i sjajno, i vrsta je klasičnog pasulja, posebno popularnog u kuhinji latinske Amerike.

 Nije uobičajeno u našoj kuhinji, da se kolači prave od pasulja, ali ovaj je posebno privukao moju pažnju. Mi smo navikli na stvari koje su sigurne, poznate su nam, bar ja jesam. Moja baka pravi isti kolač, od kad pamtim, patišpanj sa višnjama, a moja porodica i ja ga svaki put jedemo sa istim uživanjem. Ali, moja poenta je, zašto ne bismo malo eksperimentisali…

Black bean chocolate cake

3 cups cooked black beans 
2 eggs
½ cup cocoa     
80 g of chopped 70% chocolate 
1 cup sugar 
2 teaspoon vanilla  
1½ teaspoons baking powder
a pinch of salt  

3 šolje kuvanog crnog pasulja,
2 jaja 
½ šolje kakaa
80g seckane 70% čokolade 
1 šolja šećera 
 2 kk vanile  
1½ kk praška za pecivo
prstohvat soli

Mix the beans to a smooth puree. Mix with remaining ingredients. Grease a small bread or cake tin with oil and pour in the batter. Bake for about 30 minutes at 175 degrees or until a test strip dries up. (Pomešati pasulj u glatki pire. Sjediniti sa ostalim sastojcia. Podmazati mali pleh za hleb ili kolače uljem i sipati smesu. Peći oko 30 minuta na 175 stepeni, ili dok štapić kojim probodete testo ne ostane potpuno suv.)
