Carrot Cake Loaf

 

 If we went back to 2006. carrot would be my arch-enemy. If I could avoid it, I would. Now I can’t really remember why I didn’t like it that much. I thought it had no taste, not sour nor sweet, none. But those were all fallacies, childish fictions. That 2006., primary school  to be more exact, seems so long ago, and I don’t remember half of it. What I also can’t remember is when I started eating it. That is not so important for the subject, important is my conclusion, that even if you think you don’t like, or despise certain kind of food, there could be a possibility you start eating it later in your life. At least in my case.

 Carrot and I are now in a nice, friendly relationship. It’s far from best friends, but we can manage it. And since I discovered that carrot can produce wonderful sweet cake, my respect towards her rose even more.


 Ako bismo se vratili nazad u 2006. šargarepa bi bila moj najveći neprijatelj. Ako bih mogla da je izbegnem, svakako bih. Sada ne mogu tačno da se setim zašto je toliko nisam volela. Mislila sam da nema ukus, ni kiseo ni sladak, nikakav. No, sve su to zablude, dečije fantazije. Ta dvehiljadešesta, tačnije osnovna škola, deluje tako daleko, a ja se ne sećam pola tog vremena. Ono čega takođe ne mogu da se setim, je kada sam zaista pristala da jedem šargarepu. To, u stvari i nije toliko bitno za ovu temu, bitan je zaključak koji sam izvela, da iako mislite da ne volite, ili prezirete određenu vrstu hrane, postoji mogućnost da ćete je projesti kasnije u svom životu. Bar se tako desilo u ovom mom slučaju.

Šargarepa i ja smo sada u finom, prijateljskom odnosu. Daleko smo od najboljih prijateljica, ali uspevamo nekako. Otkad sam otkrila da šargarepa može da proizvede divni slatki kolač, moje poštovanje prema njoj se učvrstilo.

 First time I ate carrot cake, I didn’t know it was IT. They haven’t told me, they tricked me into eating it. And I loved it. Well, they have told me, eventually.. but that was a couple of pieces later. After all, carrot cake in this form, the real carrot cake, with cream cheese frosting, I ate on a New year’s party a couple of years ago. My friend’s cousin from Australia made it, and it was remarkable. Since then it has been some time, and recently I remembered it. Funny, I remembered something..

 Prvi put kad sam jela kolač od šargarepe, nisam ni znala da je to bilo TO. Nisu mi rekli, prevarili su me. I bilo je preukusno. Pa, rekli su mi, najzad.. ali je to bilo već posle nekoliko parčadi. Ali, kolač od šargarepe u ovakvom obliku, pravi kolač od šargarepe sa glazurom od sira, jela sam za jednu Novogodišnju žurku, pre nekoliko godina. Pravila ga je rođaka moje prijateljice, doputovala je čak iz Australije, i bilo je izvanredan. Od tada jeste prošlo neko vreme, i nedavno sam ga se setila. Čudno, ja sam se nečega setila..

 Ovaj recept će biti zanimljiv za vas, koji ne volite ukus orašastog voća u kolačima, iako originalni recept podrazumeva dodavanje oraha, na primer kao autorka ovog recepta Sara.
